The Chief of Gloucester Township EMS Alliance was charged with driving while intoxicated after he allegedly responded drunk or under the influence of another substance to a call on Thursday night in a marked EMS command vehicle, according to FirefighterCloseCalls.com.

Chief Thomas Eden Sr., 48, arrived to a report of a suicidal man who barricaded himself inside his Erial Road home and then set the house ablaze.

But when Eden arrived, the cops were just as focused on him. Police officers suspected that the chief appeared to be under the influence and administered a field sobriety test that Eden subsequently failed.

He was charged with DWI and released own his own recognizance to a family member.
