Fox hosted a live webcast today to announce the judges “American Idol’s” upcoming tenth season, where it announced that Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez would join original judge Randy Jackson.
Rumors have been swirling for months about the look of the new panel, since Simon Cowell announced a year ago that season nine would be his last as a judge. When Ellen announced her departure and Kara DioGuardi’s exit were confirmed, speculation on Tyler and Lopez began to swirl. It was reported earlier that compensation was a holding point in negotiations, though recently reports said that Lopez had signe a $12 million deal.
The live webcast was mired with technical difficulties, as viewers wrote on the live blog that sound was not working, and the feed was faulty at times throughout the presentation.
