An elderly man died on Sunday in a house fire in Watts, a mostly residential neighborhood in South Los Angeles, according to the U.S. Fire Administration, which reports on fire deaths.

The fire broke out at 8 a.m. on East 91st Street.

According to KABC-TV, firefighters got there quickly and put the fire out in less than 15 minutes, but they later found the victim, whose name was not released, inside.

No working smoke detectors were present.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
