A man was killed early Monday morning after his SUV struck a tree that had been uprooted by high winds in Cornish, N.H.

Justin J. Towle, 29, of nearby Claremont, N.H., was wearing his seat belt driving on Route 120 northbound near East Road when his 2006 Toyota Rav4 struck the tree that had fallen across the roadway.

It is believed that Towle could not avoid the tree. New Hampshire State Police said that neither speed, nor alcohol, nor drugs were contributing factors to the crash.

Police are investigating.
