NEW YORK — Rapper Ja Rule, whose real name is Jeff Atkins, pleaded guilty on Monday to attempted criminal possession of a weapon and will serve two years in prison.

This all started when police pulled the 34-year-old rapper over after a concert in New York and found a semi-automatic handgun hidden in the rear door of his luxury Maybach in July 2007.

He will be registered as a gun offender.

The rapper tweeted, “Minor setback for a major comeback.”
