The ensemble cast of All the King’s Men comes together in high definition on Blu-Ray Disc. Oscar winners Sean Penn and Anthony Hopkins team with previous nominees Jude Law, James Gandolfini and Kate Winslet in this political drama.

On the premise, Willie Stark is just an ordinary man from a small town in who’s tired of the crooked politicians who run things. He calls for them to be held accountable when a poorly-built school collapses. The rise and fall of this passionate, charismatic man shows that those in power will do anything to keep it. The film is based on Robert Penn Warren’s 1946 Pulitzer Prize-winning book.

The Blu-Ray disc is good for one thing: high def. There are no special features, no commentaries, no documentaries, no behind the scenes; just a 1080p movie with digital audio.

There are two reasons why you’d purchase All the King’s Men Blu-Ray, first and foremost, if you were a big fan of the film, and second, if you’re a Blu-Ray/high-def junkie who wants to have everything possible to show off your fancy purchase.

Since the movie was based on a famous novel, there should have been some historical background. This is the kind of movie that, despite its mixed reception by critics, had the potential to find a following on DVD and Blu-Ray, and this particular release failed to deliver.
