Right thumbs the world over rejoiced today when images of the 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro emerged from Japan.  Announced in June, this Circle Pad for the most recent iteration of Nintendo’s handheld system debunked initial rumors floating around the net that the heftier, younger 3DS would include a built in second circle pad.

No details regarding the Japanese launch date or price for the 3DS XL Circle Pad Pro were provided with the unveiling of the image.  Although the add-on is fully expected to eventually make its way to the North American market, only time will tell for sure.

Despite being even larger with the addition of the second circle pad, as you can see in the above image, Nintendo’s handheld still remains substantially more slender than Sega’s notoriously hefty Game Gear.  However, if it gets any larger it may eventually need its own tripod mounted face mask and separate controller.  But Nintendo would never do that, right?
