This is not your daddy’s book festival.

In its second year, the Boston Book Festival is making sure it will be broadcast, podcast, blogged and tweeted. To this end, they’ve tapped 4G wireless high-speed Internet provider, Towerstream, to ensure that a signal will be coursing through Copley Square in time to mingle with that new book smell.

Said Debrah Z. Porter, Founder and President of the Boston Book Festival, “Boston is a city with an extremely rich tradition in literature and high technology, but until last year Boston did not have a public event devoted to celebrating book culture. When creating the Boston Book Festival, I felt it was incumbent upon us to acknowledge Boston’s character as a center of technological innovation by offering festival attendees a high-speed wireless Internet connection at our outdoor festival events. We encourage attendees to blog about the festival and continue the conversation in real time through social media platforms, and Towerstream’s portable high-speed Internet connection provides our plugged-in attendees with a simple solution to accessing the web.”

Commented Towerstream CEO, Jeff Thompson about his company’s participation in the event, “Towerstream prides itself on our ability to serve the needs of businesses large and small, and we take great satisfaction in being chosen to provide high-speed wireless Internet to the attendees of important community events like the Boston Book Festival. Since the festival is largely educational in nature, our outdoor wireless Internet connection will help foster impactful online discussions between festival attendees in real time.”
