NEW YORK — Police officials report several people have been shot outside the Empire State Building and that a woman and the suspected gunman is dead.

New York City police officials said as many as 10 people have been wounded in the shooting. CNN reports that the gunman was shot and killed by police.

The Associated Press reports that the FDNY received a call just after 9 a.m. Friday and that the first responding units arrived within minutes.

The New York Times reports that there is no link to terrorism.

The shooting occurred at the extremely busy and dense 34th Street and Fifth Avenue intersection.

There are no updates on the conditions of the victims or a possible motive.
