Sixteen years ago today, Nights into Dreams released on Sega Saturn and captivated the hearts of players everywhere. Since then, players have been clamoring for a sequel, a remake, or a reboot and they got it with Nights: Journey of Dreams. Today Sega announced that an HD version of the original will be releasing on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PCs later this year.

“The SEGA Saturn offered many unique gaming experiences, and NiGHTS into dreams… stands out as one of the most recognizable titles that found a home on the system,” said Chris Olson, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA. “We’ve gotten a lot of requests about this game over the years, and are very happy to be able to give both former Saturn owners and new players a chance to play it in its most beautiful form to date this fall.”

Nights into Dreams takes place in the dream world of Nightopia and sees players flying through different levels and restoring peace to the home of Nights, the helpful jester that rebels against the evil Wiseman who has plans to rule both the dream and the real world. The game features the classic aerial gameplay that made it so popular and will come with added trophies and achievements, HD graphics, and a classic Saturn Mode that lets players play it with the original’s graphics and screen ratios.
