Sony Online Entertainment today announced that Rebecca Gleason is this year’s G.I.R.L (Gamers in Real Life) scholarship award winner, and what she takes home is truly what dreams are made of.

Gleason, a Game and Art Design student, hailing from Indiana and attending Indiana University was not merely awarded a wordy accolade, rather she took home $10,000 to put towards school expenses and, wait for it, a paid internship, lasting up to 10 weeks, in sunny San Diego working on the companies’ monumental hit free-to-play MMO “Free Realms.”

Of the 160 applicants hoping to win the 2nd annual award, Gleason beat them all out by submitting superior “original concept art” based in the Free Realms universe and two essays relating her personal opinion on women in the video game industry.

“I feel so honored to be given this opportunity” said Gleason.‚  “I can’t wait to make the most of it by really diving in, absorbing what I learn and working to promote the mission of the G.I.R.L. program.”

I wish I could find her art-work somewhere on the internets, and if I do, I’ll be quick to update the post and throw you a holler.
