“Jersey Shore” delivered 8.6 million viewers this week, downright amazing for MTV and a cable network–setting records for MTV in the process.

But along the way, it delivered a 4.4 18-49 demo. That’s not just amazing for a cable network–it’s one of the all-time highest ratings for a non-sports ad-supported cable broadcast. And it tops everything on network television this week.

More than “Grey’s Anatomy.” More than “Modern Family.”

Now in its fourth cycle, “Jersey Shore” has reached mass saturation. My boss at work watches the show. Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin watches the show. And now it seems that it’s going to be the most watched program in America.

At least, until American Idol debuts.
