Activision today announced that their breadwinner franchise, Call of Duty, has made over $3 billion for the company since it debuted in 2003.

Obviously buffed by the $550 million Modern Warfare 2 made in its first five days, this figure is still astounding.

Since 2003, when the original Call of Duty launched exclusively for PC, Activision has sold over 55 million units of the game’s various names.

Call Of Duty has become one of the greatest entertainment franchises of all time,” said Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, Inc. “If you consider the number of hours our audiences are engaged in playing Call of Duty games, it is likely to be one of the most viewed of all entertainment experiences in modern history.”

What will Activision and the Call of Duty name do next?!
