Singer/songwriter and actress Eszter Balint, of New York, will be performing at Berklee College of Music’s Red Room at Café 939 on March 31 at 8 p.m. Balint has not performed outside of New York in a few years, but just released her latest album, “Airless Midnight,” in August 2015.

“Airless Midnight” is Balint’s first album since “Mud” in 2004. The singer took time off from her musical career at that time to take care of her son. A few years later, she began working on writing and began performing again.

In 2014, while working on the album, Balint received an acting role on “Louie,” comedian Louie C.K.’s television series. The part came after another long hiatus from acting (her last role before “Louie” had been “Trees Lounge,” in 1996). She played the part of Louie’s girlfriend, Amia, in six episodes of the show’s fourth season. She also improvised compositions, sang, and played violin on the show.

Balint’s “Airless Midnight” is a jazzy, rock- and punk-infused album full of mystery. It features talnted guitar playing from Chris Cochrane, Marc Ribot, and Dave Schramm, as well as occasional vocals from Sam Phillips. Altogether, it is a cohesive, riveting release.

Don’t miss Balint’s performance at the Red Room, as well as her other upcoming performance dates in other locations around the country:

March 17 – New York, NY – Pangea
March 31 – Boston, MA – Red Room at Cafe 939
April 14 – Chicago, IL – The Hideout (Time TBD)
April 15 – Rockford, IL – Mary’s Place
