Commonwealth Avenue and The Paradise Rock Club played host to Gerard Way and his band this past Sunday evening. In what was his first show in Boston since playing with former band My Chemical Romance, Way quickly sold the show out, along with a number of other dates on a short tour in support of his recently released debut solo effort, Hesitant Alien. With a setlist that included a large majority of the album in addition to a few covers (“Snakedriver” by The Jesus and Mary Chain was his final song prior to an encore), Way rocked the crowd with his new Britpop-driven sound. With his initial US tour over, he will be touring outside of the country for the next few months, continuing to support the new record.
