Living the dream in the ‘burbs? Up at 6am, down at 11pm, nonstop giggles filling the hours?
Desperate Housewife clinging to your style and love of fashion, yet as a “Real Housewife of SOMEBURB” you are uncomfortably friendly with your yoga pants?
Have no fear, reversecommuter is here to provide a quick translation of the New York Fashion Week Spring 2015 designs that are walking the runway up until Friday September 12. Parlaying the fashions into ‘burbspeak, an everyday interpretation directly into your wardrobe!
Wide leg culottes – buy them now. Wear them now with sandals, flip flops or heels. Parlay them into fall with ankle boots, brogues and a denim jacket. Winterize them with boots.
Navy Blue. Classic, cool, rich, navy blue. (full disclosure, this is reversecommuter’s all time fave color!!) Invest in a great piece worthy of this color. Think navy blue blazer (so good with ripped jeans, shorts and patterned pants). Maybe a navy blue jumpsuit. Something meaningful, significant and navy.
Lace has invaded the runway in a Valentino pleasing manner! Veronica Beard, Jonathan Simkhai, Oscar de la Renta, 3.1 Philip Lim, Cynthia Rowley and more, all offering gorgeous, light, airy, lace detailed pieces.
Light blue. Think robin’s egg and invest in it. Rosie Assoulin and Jonathan Simkhai (who’s dress was inspired by broken glass shards), delivered my personal favorites.
Start lightly with a t-shirt or sweater, test drive the light blue color, fall in love deeply before a heavy investment. This is a great color to break up the grey winter blahs!
