Disclosure’s Settle is one of the more highly regarded albums released this year, so when I got the chance to see the duo live I couldn’t say no. Settle is nominated for a 2014 Grammy and Disclosure is, at the moment, a hot ticket. The Thursday night show at the Boston House of Blues was the first of Disclosure’s North American tour. In every way, visually and performance-wise, Disclosure executed a fantastic show.

Unlike most EDM shows I’ve been to, Disclosure implements a unique live aspect into their sets. The brothers that make up the band, Guy and Howard Lawrence stand behind rigs filled with keyboards, midi controllers, and drum pads. At a few points Guy Lawrence broke out his electric bass and played the bass lines to a few songs (most notably White Noise.)

Disclosure played a lot of songs off Settle, in addition to deep/tech house tunes. What I like most about Disclosure live is the trippy aspect they add in. Combined with the synchronized lights and a cool, animated disclosure face, Disclosure turned the House of Blues into a deep house dance party.

If you get the chance to catch Disclosure on their new tour, I would highly suggest it. Don’t Settle for anything less.

Until next time,

– Hal
