Spike’s video game awards (VGX) commenced this past Saturday (12/7) covering a wide range of important categories in the video game industry.  Many of the results were expected, but there were some surprising winners to be sure. Along with the categories voted by the VGX committee, there were also three viewer-voted categories this year. Here is a comprehensive look at the results:

Best Song in a Game: “Will the Circle be Unbroken” performed by Courtnee Draper and Troy Baker (BioShock Infinite)

Runners Up: “A.D.H.D.” performed by Kendrick Lamar (Grand Theft Auto V), “Sleepwalking” performed by The Chain Gang of 1974 (Grand Theft Auto V), “Survival” performed by Eminem (Call of Duty: Ghosts)

VGX Viewer-Voted Categories

Most Anticipated Game: Titanfall

Runners Up: South Park: The Stick of Truth, Destiny, Watch Dogs, The Witcher 3

Character of the Year: The Lutece Twins (BioShock Infinite)

Runners Up: Lara Croft (Tomb Raider), Naiee and Nyaa (Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons),  Trevor Philips (Grand Theft Auto V)

Best Mobile Game: Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time

Runners Up: Angry Birds Star Wars, Infinity Blade 3, Ridiculous Fishing

This is only one of many awards which will be given to video games this year, but it can give you a pretty good idea of a few of the games you can expect to see on the “Best of 2013” lists that are sure hitting magazines and websites in the coming months. Interesting that GTA V was able to take away the GOTY without being considered the best game for either platform which featured the game.
