Whether it be their work together on Saturday Night Live or in 2008’s “Baby Mama”, pretty much everything that the dynamic comedy duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler touches turns to gold. (And that’s saying nothing of their individual merits as comediennes, each currently at the helm of her own Thursday night NBC sitcom – “30 Rock” and “Parks and Recreation” respectively).
Appropriately enough, the two have been tapped to host the 2013 Golden Globe Awards – the 70th – set to air January 13. This, of course, marks the departure of controversial British comedian Ricky Gervais, who left the Hollywood elite squirming more than smiling with his pointed routine and commentary at the 2010 and 2011 Awards. While those may seem like big shoes to fill, doubters need not worry: even out of the hosting spotlight,Fey and Poehler have already proven themselves more than capable of stealing the show at these events.
Of course, the value of this friendship has already been more than proven – just ask the two bidders at Comedy Central’s “Night of Too Many Stars” event to benefit Autism-related charities, who, last week, each put up a reported $36,000 just to hang out with them.
