Since launching in December, Rocksmith has given budding guitarists a tool to sharpen their skills right on their consoles. Rocksmith is part rhythm game and part teaching guide that lets players use an actual guitar to rock out to and learn to play classic songs.

Ubisoft will also be releasing a bass expansion later this month that will update all of the game’s current 53 songs and allow players to play along with the bass lines. Any 6-string guitar can be used to emulate a 4-string bass as well, but “nothing compares to playing a real bass guitar”.

The expansion DLC will be available on August 14 for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for $29.99.
