In a statement released today, Kirsten Stewart has apologized for cheating on boyfriend of three years and “Twilight” co-star Robert Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders, People Magazine reports. Sanders directed Stewart’s latest film outside of the famed vampire franchise, “Snow White and the Huntsman”.

“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,” the statement reads. “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”

Pattinson, 26, and Stewart, 22, have been associated since the two were paired to star in the then-burgeoning “Twilight” film franchise four years ago. While they have generally kept quiet about their personal lives, the two have been romantically involved (and in the spotlight as such) for a number of years.

Sanders, 41, issued a similar statement, accordng to People. “I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family,” said the married father of two.

Rumors of the Stewart/Sanders fling began to swirl when photos of the alleged infidelity appeared in US Weekly.
