Just over two months after its initial Xbox Live release, the folks at Digital Reality have announced that their critically acclaimed shooter is making its way to Sony’s handheld system.  Co-developed with Grasshopper Manufacture, Sine Mora is a gorgeous 2D shooter that features old-school gameplay, time manipulation, and a unique take on player health.  Rather than use an old-fashioned health meter, players are provided with a timer that continually counts down.  As players kill enemies, additional seconds are placed on the timer.  However, as players take damage, additional seconds are taken off of the timer.  This mechanic creates a wonderfully urgent need to both evade and dish out damage.

Balaz Horvath, Digital Reality’s Director of Publishing, told the media “When you’ve got a great game on your hands, there’s nothing you want to do more than share it with everyone.  We had a fantastic launch with Microsoft exclusively on Xbox LIVE Arcade, and we’re really excited to continue that on the Vita.”

Unlike their Xbox Live brethren, PlayStation Vita owners will also have access to a brand new exclusive character, Wilhelmine Muller.  From Under Defeat (one of the last games created for the Sega Dreamcast), the additional character also looks to bring new weapons, and new ways to manipulate time.

Although no specific release date has been confirmed, Sine Mora should be arriving on the PlayStation Vita very soon.  So, for the time being, Vita owners will just have deal with the irony of waiting to manipulate time.
