So here’s the good news. We’re getting an Avengers game. The bad? It’s going to be a motion based title for the Kinect and Wii U. Yeeeeeeah.

Marvel’s Avengers: Battle for Earth from Ubisoft is said to feature roughly twenty characters from the Marvel Universe and draws its inspiration from the recent Secret Invasion storyline.  That sounds promising..right?

“We are excited to team up with Marvel Entertainment to bring some of the most iconic comic book characters from the Marvel line-up to life in motion-gaming,” said Tony Key, US senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft in a recent press release. “Fans of the Marvel universe and superhero games are going to love the extensive combinations of characters, motion-controlled moves and competitive gameplay.”

From the sound of things, we’re either getting a motion controlled version of Ultimate Alliance, or a slightly retooled version of Kinect: Power-up Heroes, a slightly underrated game released for the Kinect last year.

A website has been set up for the game here, but there’s not much to it. While you’re waiting for more info, why don’t you read my list of what I would personally want from an Avengers game.
