Call of Duty Creative Strategist and Infinity Ward lead Robert Bowling has announced via his Twitter that he will be leaving the studio and Activision as a whole. “Today, I resign from my position as Creative Strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision,” Bowling wrote earlier this morning.

Bowling has been a long time employee of Activision and Infinity Ward, serving as the studio’s community manager and more recently, has been the figurehead for recent game launches, playing an integral part in several launches and media events.

Though Activision has not announced a replacement for Bowling, they offered kind words via this written statement; “We sincerely thank Robert for his many years of service. He’s been a trusted and valued member of the Infinity Ward team. We wish him all the best on his decision to pursue future opportunities.”  Infinity Ward offered similar sentiments, tweeting that they “wish Robert all the best.”

Bowling has not announced his future plans and no — we don’t know if he’ll join former Infinity Wards heads Jason West and Vince Zampella at Respawn Entertainment.
