After two years of marriage, singer/actress Zooey Deschanel and her husband, Ben Gibbard, lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie, have separated. Us Weekly reports that, according to sources, “It was mutual and amicable”.
Deschanel, half of the musical duo She & Him, and Gibbard were married in September of 2009. US reported that Zooey said earlier on about marriage: “You can’t expect to make no effort. You still have to make the effort and be kind and understanding. It sort of just solidifies your commitment.”
Despite the sorrow this celebrity couple’s split will instill in fans, many a bachelor is assuredly celebrating Deschanel’s renewed single status.
