An 18-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed Monday night by a fire truck in Winter Park, Fla.

Police said the driver was not at fault as he was turning into a hospital, when the cyclist, riding in the same direction on Lakemont Avenue in front of Winter Park Memorial Hospital, lost control and fell under the truck.

The driver had his turn signal on to make the right turn, but the bike apparently did not have any brakes. The cyclist, identified as Cullen Detamore of Winter Park, tried to speed up to pass the truck. He then made a sudden turn at about 20 mph, and the bike slipped out underneath him.

The firefighter, Ronald Ryan, 51, will not face charges.
