For the second time in less than a year, a police officer has been shot in the suburb of Worburn during a jewelry heist.

Around 11 a.m. Tuesday, a jewelry store was robbed on Cambridge Road in a shopping center. A responding police officer was shot and taken to Lahey Clinic, where his condition was not immediate known.

A massive manhunt is now underway.

There were at least two suspects. One was shot by police, and police are looking for a second man who fled in a vehicle.

Set north of Boston on I-93, Woburn is the town where Officer John “Jack Maguire” was fatally shot by a convict on parole who was robbing a Kohl’s department store of Jewelry in late December.
