Well, scratch another toy off my Christmas list, as Sony announced earlier today that though its new handheld, The PlayStation Vita will be released this fall in Japan; gamers in both the USA and European territories will have to wait until sometime in 2012.
Sony warned all along that the device may not be ready for release this year, but it was widely suspected that a release date would come before the end of the year.
Sony also commented that they do not plan to lower the price of the Vita as a result of the 3DS price drop issued by Nintendo last month.
