A 16-year old Braintree teen was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly fired a gun in the air and then pointed it at 15-year old teen after the victim was talking to the suspect’s girlfriend.

Police responded to a call about underage drinking in the woods behind Flaherty School on Saturday evening. Officers questioned many teens and confiscated a quantity of alcohol.

One boy was charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol and resisting arrest. The remaining teens were transported to the police station to be picked up by their parents.

While driving to the police station, one of the teens revealed that while he was talking to a girl he did not know, a youth he knew pulled out a chrome revolver and shot a round into the air. He then pointed the gun at the reporting youth’s face and threatened him.

The youths dispersed after the incident.

Braintree Police and officers from surrounding towns searched for the suspect in the woods and at his home. The teen, who will remain unidentified due to his age, was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, assault with a dangerous weapon and threats to commit a crime.

The teen lived with his grandfather, who owns a number of firearms, and searched for the chrome revolver, according to Police. They were unable to locate the revolver the teen used.

Various people who live around Flaherty School reported hearing a gunshot.
