The CW has extended renewals to “One Tree Hill” and “Nikita.” It will be the 9th season for “One Tree Hill,” presumably the last. “Nikita” will start its second season.

“One Tree Hill” has been consistent with the network’s other offerings, even if it’s not a strong show. Still, its total viewership hovers above the network average. However, much of the main cast’s contracts ended with the current season, and its continuation was largely a factor of their return.

“Nikita’s” renewal was less of a shoe-in, as it’s been borderline in the 12-34 girls demo the network targets.
