Back when the Xbox 360 first launched in 2005, one of the most widely purchased games of the lackluster lineup was Rare’s Kameo: Elements of Power. Before giving it the untimely axe, Microsoft and Rare were planning a more realistic sequel, which we’re now getting our first look at.

The images come from the portfolio of artist Sergey Rakhmanov who worked for Rare for over 7 years. So just why was the sequel given the axe? Speaking to Edge Magazine last year, Rare’s creative director George Andreas expressed his love for the project, saying that the decision was a painful one, and that the “shooter loving Xbox 360 crowd” just didn’t seem too interested in a game about a fairy.
