The new year started Monday, and the television networks slowly started coming out of repeats, with ABC premiering another round of “The Bachelor,” and CBS returning with an all-new lineup.

CBS easily won the night, averaging 11.6 million viewers and a 3.6 demo rating. “How I Met Your Mother” kicked things off at 8, with 10.3 million viewers and a 3.9 demo, some of it’s highest ratings of the season, which brought up leadout “Rules of Engagement” to some of it’s best ratings. “Mike and Molly” remained the highest rated new show of the season, arguably a breakout hit, and “Hawaii Five-0” continued to lag behind the rest of the pack.

ABC did not have as good of fortunes, averaging a 2.7 demo rating and 9.2 million viewers. “The Bachelor’s” 15th season was its second lowest premiere ever, and “Castle” returned up 25% from it’s series low last outing, but still delivered it’s second lowest rating of the season, proving its hurting without “Dancing with the Stars” as a leadin.
