State Police are investigating a deadly two-car crash on the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge in Boston.

A 1997 Lexus ES300 driven by a 58-year-old Beverly woman was headed across the bridge from Cambridge to Boston around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday when police said she crossed the double yellow lines and crashed head-on into a Ford Crown Victoria taxi.

The drivers of both cars were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries, but the passenger of the Lexus, a 79-year-old Beverly woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. None of their names were released.

The bridge was closed for about two hours.
