After some controversy between Kanye West and George Bush, West was interviewed on the Today show, and he was not very happy. West tweeted “I feel very alone very used very tortured very forced very misunderstood very hollow very very misused.” Here is the interview video.

Host Matt Lauer asked West about his remarks accusing Bush of racism after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

The entire interview was very awkward. When the previous Lauer’s interview with Bush was played, West was asked what he would say to Bush’s emotional face, but West said, “I didn’t need you guys to show me the tape in order to prompt my emotions or whatever. I don’t need all the jazz…Can we be quiet for a second?”

The response made the interview a little awkward.

It continued when another clip of West interrupting Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs was played. The clip started being played while West was talking about the issue. This bothered West and he said, “Yo, how am I supposed to talk if you’re going to run the thing in the middle while I’m talking?…Please don’t let that happen again. It’s ridiculous.”

Lauer said that the practice of showing old footage during interviews was “nothing improper” and “nothing unusual.” But it was obvious West was trying his best to explain his thoughts about the issues. What do you think?

I like how he acted a fool on national television, all race aside. He was talking about how beyonce’ was the logical choice, maybe at the club and his sphere of music but people (orange, yellow, purple, black, brown, white) do not realized there is space between new york and LA and people like all different kinds of music. So for him to say it was the logical choice just shows his insensitivity to other views. It could be interpreted as racist, but I believe it is more ignorance.

I’m going to agree with most of what you said-his comments are usually pretty ignorant. I can’t say that I liked “how he acted a fool on national TV”. I believe he is a passionate person and desperately needs to work on how he expresses his thoughts, opinions and beliefs especially where they infringe on others feelings.

Regarding the music: the bottom line is that awards shows are someone’s opinion about what they think, believe, feel-whether we agree or not. We watch because we’re interested. If Kanye has such strong views he should have his own awards show (not sure how many would watch).

After him they just might rethink playing a clip while someone is talking. Just because it’s not “improper” doesn’t necessarily make it a great idea.
