It was announced today that Billy Joel will be making his Rock Band debut this December. The real story though is just how it happened. Apparently, we can thank the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin.

“I’ve never allowed my music to be used in a game before,” Joel told USA Today. ”  That all changed when the singer read an Entertainment Weekly review of a recent episode of NBC’s The Office where the characters alluded to a version of the hit music game featuring the acclaimed Piano Man. “The critic wrote something like, ‘God forbid that ever should happen.’ So I called my people and said, ‘Get me (on) that Rock Band game.’ Then I wrote the critic, saying that every time I get a check, I’ll give him a little nod.”

Rock Band 3 hits consoles next week, while the Billy Joel track pack is expected to hit in December.
