Tragedy struck the Pennsylvania capital Monday night as fire rushed through a row home in Harrisburg, killing five people, including four children.

WGAL-TV reported that the blaze broke out just before 8 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find the house engulfed in flames.

Killed in the fire were Cornelia Brooks, 4, and four young kids: Derrion Terry, 2; DeAndrea Terry, 3; Kelli Franklin, 4 and Tysheen Terry, 4.

Amanda Franklin, Kelli Franklin’s mother, also lived in the house and survived the fire, according to news reports. She said that the two women were sisters and were getting the children ready for a bath when they smelled the smoke, which was coming from the kitchen.

Firefighters rescued the five people from the house alive, but they died later at area hospitals.
