State and local police are investigating the death of a 61-year-old Peabody woman who died in a crash after her car veered into the water off Route 107 on Wednesday morning.
Anna Perkowski was driving a 2007 Lexus southbound at about 7:30 a.m. when the car lost its rear right wheel. She tried to pull into a nearby parking lot, but lost control, struck a guardrail, and landed in Revere Creek, police said.
A 58-year-old woman riding in the passenger seat was saved by passersby. Revere, Cambridge, and State Police dive teams responded and found the car submerged, upside down.
Perkowski was pulled from the car, brought to shore, and pronounced dead shortly after 10:15 a.m.
