In the midst of auditions for the upcoming season of “American Idol”, judge Kara DioGuardi announced, through a statement released by FOX, that she will be leaving the show. She did not elaborate on the reason for her departure, but did state that it “feels like the best time to leave.”
Her departure comes directly on the heels of both judge Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres’ announcements that they will also be leaving the show before next season. This leaves only Randy Jackson of the original judges panel left as the show starts its newest quest to find the next “American Idol”.
DioGuardi has her own successful career outside of the show collaborating on songs recorded by not only past “Idol” winners, but also notable names like Marc Anthony, Faith Hill, and Gwen Stefani. While it remains to be seen whether this was the reason behind the departure, it is likely this will not be the last we see of DioGuardi.
To replace not only DioGuardi, but Cowell and DeGeneres as well, it seems that the new judges will likely be Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, who have recently been rumored to be part of the new panel for next season. However, there has been no official announcement, yet.
