Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken will be returning to that galaxy far, far away for a brand-new Star Wars-themed special that will premier on December 12 at 11:30 p.m. This third installment in the Robot Chicken: Star Wars trilogy will follow the two previous specials, which resulted in multiple Emmy nominations and numerous Annie Awards for both the specials and the writers Ahmed Best and Seth Green.

“We’re telling more of a linear story this time that covers the series from start to finish,” says Green. Matthew Senrieich, who’s also involved via Stoopid Monkey Productions added, “We wanted to take the Star Wars universe and see it through the eyes of our Robot Chicken: Star Wars Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Gary the Stormtrooper. We’ll still flip around the universe, but we’ll get a unique perspective from the bad guy side, from people who just want to rule the universe.”

Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III will feature Zac Efron as Anakin Skywalker, Anthony Daniels (from the original films) as C3PO, Mike Henry and Donald Glover who will be making their first appearances, and also returning are Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, Seth MacFarlane, and Rachael Leigh Cook among others.

In addition to this news, Adult Swim has also announced that Robot Chicken will begin airing their fifth season, sometime in late October.
