While I personally didn’t know one person who actually bought last year’s original DJ Hero, it must have sold pretty well, because today Activision and FreeStyleGames have announced DJ Hero 2, set to hit stores sometime this fall. The “Party Bundle” for those who are picking up the game for the first time, will include a microphone, two turntables, and the game itself. Those who actually bought the first game will be able to buy the “Turntable Bundle” which is the needed additional turntable and the game only.
Featured artists will include Dr. Dre, The Chemical Brothers, Kanye West, Metallica, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna, among 85 others. Activision promises new social multiplayer modes and a freestyle mode. Players can also sample mash-ups from known DJs like Deadmau5, who will be featured as a playable character.
“DJ Hero was the best music game of 2009 and with DJ Hero 2 we’re delivering a new easy to pick-up, challenging-to-master experience that all players can enjoy together,” said David Haddad, Chief Operating Office, Guitar Hero. “With new social game modes, the inclusion of full microphone support, all-new levels of creative freedom and an amazing soundtrack, DJ Hero 2 is the ultimate mixer of music and friends.”
