If you’ve read the Internet in the weeks preceding and now following the release of Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell: Conviction, you’re aware rumors of a PS3 version have been flying every which way. Given the franchise’s Microsoft-exclusive history, it seemed likely that it would remain a Microsoft only title, but that didn’t stop speculators from speculating.

But recently, Ubisoft nailed the hammer in the coffin and Tweeted a rumor control message.

“Rumor control: Splinter Cell Conviction is exclusive to Xbox 360. The PC version is coming out next week.”

Now, it only says “exclusive to the Xbox 360.” The statement does not deny the existence and eventual release of a PS3 version, so there’s some wiggle room there.

PS3 gamers, is Splinter Cell something you’re dying to play? Or could easily go without?
