Publishers rarely reveal just how much a game cost to develop, but in the high profile case of God of War III, Sony did just that.

John Hight, of Sony’s Santa Monica branch, the team responsible for God of War III, the game racked up a bill of about $44 million.

With the average cost to develop a game standing at between $18 and $28 million, the third God of War beat them out handily.
