Vince Zampella and Jason West, the two Infinity Ward bosses fired by Activision yesterday, according to CVG, said today that they had to “push” Activision to allow them to make the original Modern Warfare.

Activision cited insubordination yesterday and fired Zampella and West, but the two said the publisher and the studio never got along well.

Infinity Ward. What's next?

West said in an interview last year that Infinity Ward had to “fight for everything” with their owners, Activision.

According to CVG, Zampella took it further and expressed how Activision really didn’t want Modern Warfare originally.

“Activision also did not want Modern Warfare. They thought working on a modern game was risky and [thought], ‘oh my god you can’t do that, it’s crazy!’ They were doing market research to show us we were wrong the whole time,” he said.

With the two Infinity Ward bosses gone, what does the future hold for the studio? Scary thought, huh?
