According to Mike Griffith, CEO of Activision Publishing, combined sales of Call of Duty: World At War map packs are nearing 10 million, proving the worth of additional content for AAA releases.

“The Call of Duty: World at War map packs have sold more than 8.5 million units in a single year,” he said. “World at War remains one of the top three titles played over Xbox LIVE even more than one year since its original launch.”

There are three map packs available and each costs $10.  Griffith estimated the DLC alone brought in over $100 million for Activision, and the game itself sold pretty well too we hear.

Activision is planning on releasing DLC for Modern Warfare 2 sometime this spring. Wouldn’t be surprised to see it arrive near that Halo: Reach multiplayer beta.
