PAX East, the east coast mega-conference set for Boston in late March, is already shaping up to be a huge event, maybe a little too huge.

We already warned you tickets were running short, but a Penny Arcade executive today confirmed our initial report.

Robert Khoo, President of Operations and Biz Dev for Penny Arcade Inc. spoke with gaming-blog Joystiq about this year’s event noting that 60,000 are planning to attend and only 1,000 tickets are left.

He said they can’t release final figures until the show is over, but are “looking at more attendees than the last PAX in Seattle,” which sold out with 60,750 attendees.

As of this printing, no speakers, music acts or sponsors have been announced for the show leading us to believe everyone is simply buying into the hype, which isn’t a bad thing, as long as PAX delivers.
