Atlus U.S.A. today announced Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 for the PlayStation Portable, confirming our speculation, and bringing one of the highest-rated role-playing-games of all time to Sony’s handheld.

It’s not a straight port from the PS2 and is said to include over 100 hours of gameplay and will bring about “numerous additional improvements and enhancements serve to streamline the experience for optimal handheld RPG enjoyment.”

From the mouth of Aram Jabbari, Manager of Public Relations at Atlus:

“Persona 3 Portable takes everything that made Persona 3 such a tremendous, award-winning hit and translates it into the perfect handheld RPG experience.”

Well now, we’ll see just how true that claim actually is when the title releases July 6.

But for now, hit up the game’s official Web page for more.
