We’re not exactly sure of the methodology here, because most of the Blast staffers are also renters. But the fact is, a survey done by ApartmentRatings.com shows that Boston is one of the top 10 cities in the country for renter satisfaction.

Remember that when it’s 50 degrees in your apartment — you’re satisfied, remember?

Fort Wayne, Ind. was rated the best city for renters, and that makes sense because published media reports show that the cost of living is low. You get a lot more bang for your buck in Fort Wayne than on Beacon Hill.

The list:

  1. Fort Wayne
  2. Madison, Wis.
  3. Arlington, Va.
  4. Washington
  5. Chandler, Ariz.
  6. Bakersfield , Calif.
  7. Durham, N.C.
  8. Lincoln, Neb.
  9. Boston
  10. Chicago

Boston came in at No. 9 from scores tabulated from thousands of users filling out surveys this year. Factors counted included noise, safety and maintenance.

In case you’re wondering, the worst cities in the country to rent include Las Vegas, Anaheim, Calif., Norfolk, Va., Memphis and Aurora, Colo. Aurora, a Denver suburb, was the worst.
