Tonight in Los Angeles, at the 2009 Video Game Awards, sequels for popular video game franchises were announced, with little else known besides their existence.

Batman Arkham Asylum 2, Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2, and a True Crime set in Shanghai were all revealed this evening at the award show alongside glorious world premiere teaser trailers.

The show runs on SPIKE TV until 10 p.m. tonight.

Based on the only footage released so far, the game is set in Hong Kong, not Shanghai. There are no scenes of Shanghai in the footage.

There seem to be conflicting reports so far, and many sites have reported it as Shanghai (IGN, for one) while others are reporting it as Hong Kong (Gamespot and others). Neither United Front Games or Activision have the game on their websites yet to verify it, and you may very well be right. Thanks for the tip; we’ve got a request for more info in to Activision and we’ll set the record straight as soon as we hear from them.
