Playstation Portable Gift Guide

Dissidia: Final FantasyThis game helps unite all the Final Fantasy games in one spectacular game.  The pinnacle is definitely the head to head fighting between each game’s hero and villain; those battles alone are the realization of the final battles from each and every Final Fantasy game and beautifully remind diehards why they fell in love with the games in the first place (and continuously email Square Enix to remake certain chapters for the new consoles — *cough* Final Fantasy VII *cough*). This is a fantastic game and definitely one PSP owners should have.

Gran Turismo PSPThe series has made an overall successful leap to the portable realm. The driving and variety of cars is still amazing, the graphics are excellent, and for lovers of serious racing, GT is still king. It’s a great racing game in need of evolution, but those are mostly complaints that are easier to level on the PS3 version. As far as portable racers go, GT is still the king–if you’re feeling the urge for a racing sim on the go, then you know where to look.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown WarsThe scope of this game is huge, and it is easily worth the purchase and the time you will invest in it. Fans of the series need to play this game, as it’s a worthy entry in Grand Theft Auto’s history, and those with a PSP who are searching for the next big thing have to look no further than their local retailers shelves. This is the second time we’ve played through Chinatown Wars, and it was just as much fun as the first, thanks to new missions and some graphical fancy new graphical work.

LitteBigPlanet PSP- Rest assured, a review for this cute little digital creation is being worked on and is on the way!

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite – It’s more of a refined version of the previous PSP editions of Monster Hunter than it is a brand new game, but that doesn’t keep it from being the best Monster Hunter title in the North American market. Ad hoc multiplayer for monster slaying with friends, more missions than you know what to do with, and tons and tons of loot for you to pick up. Whether you want to try it out or want to get a friend in on the slaying of giant monsters, Freedom Unite is where you want to look.

Motorstorm: Arctic Edge It’s entertaining, and it has everything you could possibly want from a racing game — cool cars, great visuals, and dynamic tracks. The replay value is fantastic but the online mode is one of the best ways to truly test your racing prowess. The game deserves to be recognized as one of the best games available on PSP today. If you’re a racing aficionado or a casual gamer looking for a road trip game, this is one you should definitely consider this holiday season.

Star Ocean: Second Ocean It wasn’t a great year for RPGs on the PSP, but this remake of the second Star Ocean game will bring you back to the early days of the series, giving you that hardcore RPG experience you crave, but with a new coat of paint. The first one is also a solid addition to the library, but this is the better game, and it shows after all this time.
