NVIDIA, a graphics chip maker reportedly won a contract to provide its new chip, Tegra, to Nintendo for a new iteration of the DS, to be announced late 2010.

Inside sources tell information technology news outlet BSN, that Tegra, the chip used in such mobile machines as the Zune HD and smartphones, will make the new DS run.

If true, this partnership would mark the first time Nintendo and NVIDIA ever teamed up. And the way both firms dominate mobile eletronics business, we can’t even imagine what would happen if they worked together. World domination anyone?

Nintendo, who released the Nintendo DSi mere months ago, aren’t likely ready to announce a new portable soon, but late 2010, that’s not soon is it?
